Red is the Color of My Soul

Red is the Color of My Soul

ARTISTRY was a group exhibition organised by Sika Gallery Bali in 2023, designed to spark dialogue between artists and artisans while celebrating the spirit of craftsmanship. The exhibition featured artist-led and designer-led brands across a wide range of disciplines—jewelry, metalwork, fashion, interior objects, and even artisanal liquor. Among the participating brands were Mahija, Dooda the Hound, Rad Studios Natural, Serayu Pot, and Arake.

For this exhibition, I created an installation titled Red Is the Color of My Soul, featuring Terratrooper, a limited-edition ceramic container series. The earthy-toned figurines, named Ocean Cadet (in a blue hat) and Earth Cadet (in a brown hat), act as guardians of the planet. Through Terratrooper, I aim to raise awareness about environmental damage driven by overconsumption and rapid exploitation.

The installation evolved using off-cut wood waste and scattered foreign coins placed intentionally yet loosely, prompting viewers to question the current dynamics of supply and demand. Together, these elements encouraged reflection on consumption, and our relationship to the natural world.
